Privacy.
The short version: we collect your email address, we use it to send you updates about the build and news about booking the cottage, and we do nothing else with it.
What we collect
Your email address, and the fact that you ticked the consent box, along with when you did it. That is the whole list. We do not ask for your name, your address or anything else.
Why we have it
Because you asked us to email you. That consent is the only legal basis we rely on, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Confirming it is you
When you sign up we send one email asking you to confirm. Until you click that link you are not on the list, and if you never click it, nothing further happens. This stops anyone adding your address without your say-so.
What we send
Updates on the renovation and the tiny cottage, and news about when the cottage can be booked. Nothing else. We do not sell, rent or share your address with anyone, and we do not send advertising on behalf of other people.
Who else can see it
Our email provider, Resend, stores the list and sends the emails on our behalf. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. If you agreed to analytics, Google also processes your visit, as described below. All three are service providers acting on our instructions, and none of them uses your email address for their own purposes.
Cookies and analytics
We ask before we set anything. When you first arrive you get a choice, and until you say yes, no analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is sent to Google. The site behaves identically either way, and saying no costs you nothing.
If you say yes, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they look at, roughly where in the world they are, and how they found us. It sets cookies to recognise a returning browser. We use it to work out whether the site is doing its job, not to identify you, and we never combine it with your email address.
We also see anonymous, aggregated visit counts through Vercel. That needs no cookies and cannot identify you, so it runs regardless of your choice.
Changed your mind? You can withdraw or give consent at any time, and it should be as easy to take back as it was to give.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe, or until the list is no longer being used, at which point we delete it. If you never confirm, your address is removed rather than left sitting there.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe in one click from the bottom of any email we send, and most email apps will also show their own unsubscribe button at the top. Either removes you immediately, with nothing to fill in and no reason to give. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do it. Under UK GDPR you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are not happy with how we have handled things.
Getting in touch
Email info@itsallabouttheviews.com and we will sort it.
